Simpson College and the Indianola branch of the American Association of University Women will host a forum for state legislative candidates Oct. 8 on the Simpson campus.
The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Hubbell Hall, located on the second floor of the Kent Campus Center.
The public is invited, and the forum will include opportunities for voters to submit written questions to the candidates.
Scheduled to appear are:
*Republican Julian Garrett of Indianola and Democrat Pam Deichmann of Winterset, who are competing in the State Senate District 13 race.
*Democrat Scott Ourth of Ackworth and Republican James Butler of St. Charles, who are vying for the State House District 26 seat.
*Republican Stan Gustafson of Cumming, who is running unopposed for State House District 25.
“The John C. Culver Public Policy Center at Simpson college is pleased to partner with the Indianola branch of the American Association of University Women to host this public forum,” said Seth Andersen, director of the Center. “This, along with organizing and hosting the U.S. Senate and U.S. House—3rd District debates, represents the kind of events that encourage our students to get interested in public service and to become engaged citizens.”
