Latinos Unidos is a Latino organization at Simpson College that seeks to unite students interested in sharing, celebrating, and learning about Latino Culture. The purpose of Latinos Unidos is to provide all interested students, Latino or not, with an opportunity to interact with each other through events and activities such as study breaks, discussion groups, dinners, and movie nights. Through the organization and its members, Latinos Unidos hopes to foster great solidarity among Latino students at Simpson College and to enhance the overall Latino presence on campus. Latinos Unidos is a group of Simpson College students of all ethnic backgrounds whose ambition is to educate both themselves, the community and Simpson campus about the history and culture of the Latino population of the United States, Mexico, Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spain. Latinos Unidos was established in 2012, and it is the first Latino organization since the establishment of Simpson College in 1860. The Latinos Unidos organization benefits the Simpson Campus and Community by bringing in diversity into campus. We want to educate the Simpson community about Latino heritage styles from various parts of the world. Sharing the values, language, dancing styles, culture and more of Latin America definitely helps keep students aware of other cultures besides American cultures.
