Alpha Tau Omega's Beta Alpha chapter was established at Simpson College in 1885. The fraternity is housed in a traditional residence hall with three floors; it was built in 1963.

This 1.8 million-dollar facility was dedicated in the spring of 1983 and named for Amy Robertson, Class of 1921. The Lekberg Recital Hall seats 250 people and is used for student and faculty recitals as well as small-group presentations. The center also contains faculty offices, individual practice rooms and instrumental music facilities. A $1 million addition was completed in the spring of 1997. The Salsbury Hall of Music features a choral rehearsal room, including a listening library, teaching studios and a large classroom.

The Carnegie Library was built in 1905, one of two Carnegies in Indianola. The library moved to Dunn in 1964 and it was renovated in 1975 to house the business department. It was renamed Heckert Hall, in honor of Josiah B. Heckert, chair of the business department in early 1920_s who wrote to his former students for over 60 years. Today the facility houses classrooms and offices for the Art Department.

Barker Hall was built in 1954, renovated in 2002, and had a 76-bed addition completed in Fall 2005. With the addition, Barker Hall will house 189 first-year men and women in a variety of double, triple, and quad rooms on 3 floors. Each floor has community bath facilities . The first floor has a main lounge area, while the lower level houses an additional large lounge space, a laundry and vending area, and a computer room. The hall kitchen is on the second floor. Also located in the heart of campus, Barker Hall is adjacent to Pfeiffer Dining Hall and near Dunn Library.

Named for Dr. and Mrs. A. H. Blank, this building was completed in 1971 to house the Theatre Arts Department. In 2011 an addition was added to Blank that included an elevator, expanded and accessible restrooms and increased handicapped seating to the facility to allow everyone to enjoy the performances held at Blank. The expansion created faculty space, teaching classrooms and labs and double the size of the lobby. Located in Blank are the 125-seat Barnum Studio Theatre and the 500-seat Pote Theatre, where the Des Moines Metro Opera performs its summer season. Guest artists and senior art students can display their work in the Barborka Gallery. Blank also contains a workshop and costume shop, as well as offices and classrooms

Buxton Hall provides co-educational suite-style housing for 134 upper- division students. The large four-person rooms share a bathroom with the adjoining same-sex suite. Buxton Hall rooms also have the luxury of a sleeping area that is separate from the rest of the room. Built in 1967 and renovated in 1998 and 1999, Buxton Hall is adjacent to Blank-Pote Theatre and Picken Hall and near Carse Fitness Center and the Brenton Student Center.

Both stunning and serene, Buxton Park is nestled in the center of Indianola just north of campus. Its formal gardens, ornamental fountain and gazebo offer a spectacular setting for studying, photo sessions or a simple stroll in the park. Also home to an arboretum, the park offers a self-guided interpretive tree tour pamphlet at the display case near the gazebo.
