Set in 1880’s Norway, An Enemy of the People tells the story of a man  who dares to speak an unprofitable truth. When Dr. Tomas Stockmann exposes a water pollution scandal stemming from a nearby factory, he, his neighbors, the local media, and elected officials are faced with a difficult choice about the future of their hometown: spend huge sums of money to repair the drainage systems that surround the new spa, or open the baths as they are despite possible, though unconfirmed, health risks? Ibsen’s explosive play reminds us that we all live downstream.
