Radical Women Go Back to Your Homes: The Fight for Woman Suffrage in Iowa and the Midwest

 

The Iowa History Center, Simpson’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program, and the Culver Center are pleased to host this year’s Women in America Lecture.  Sara Egge, the Claude D. Pottinger Professor of History at Centre College in Kentucky will present “Radical Women Go Back to Your Homes: The Fight  for Woman Suffrage in Iowa and the Midwest.”  Egge’s 2018 book, Woman Suffrage and Citizenship in the Midwest, 1870-1920 was awarded the Gita Chaudhuri Prize from the Western Association of Women’s Historians for the best book in rural women’s history and the Benjamin Shambaugh Award from the State Historical Society of Iowa for the best book in Iowa history.
