This 40-minute presentation by Mark Pleiss, will provide you with quick tips from the literature on faculty observations and consultations in higher education. You will be given an opportunity to share and discuss your own methods with peers, and you will leave with new questions and ideas for further developing skills in this area. For example, we will discuss: 

• What types of data should you gather during an observation? 
• How do you present that data to the instructor and brainstorm new ideas?
• How can thoughtful observation practices lead to a more equitable classroom? 

The focus will be on general best practices, and they can be applied to both formative and evaluative observations.
