Understanding How Black History Has Been a Huge Part of Simpson's History

Presented by Emili L. Radke, 08, Assistant Director of Admissions

My father graduated from Simpson in 1978 and has been a teacher and coach with the Des Moines Public School district for the last 40 years. He has an incredible story as a kid that was born into the Jim Crow south and grew up in the Bronx, NY. To start this session, I will ask him to share his story and experience navigating through America as a black man in the Midwest. Additionally, there are numerous black professionals in the Des Moines area that are Simpson grads. They have incredible stories and experiences that I think will bring a sense of pride to the Simpson story and enlighten our community and inspire students of color on campus.

NOTE: While in Phase Orange all sessions will be zoom only. While in Phase Yellow, both online and F2F
