Hopper was completed in 1912 and is one of the first college gyms in Iowa to be built with an overhead track. The first basketball game played here resulted in Simpson defeating the University of Iowa, 25-14! Hopper was used for varsity athletics until the Cowles Center was finished, and is now used for physical education classes, intramural competitions, practice sessions and Homecoming activities.
